FlexiRay, a Barco company with over two decades of expertise in UHF RFID technology, is turning heads at LogiMAT 2026 in Stuttgart this week with the debut of its Super Compact R4 Reader and a refreshed lineup of ultra-slim antenna solutions.
The company, which has been developing UHF RFID hardware since 2005, is using the three-day logistics trade show (March 24-26) to tackle a persistent challenge in RFID deployments: standard antennas that become performance bottlenecks once installed in real-world environments.
Super Compact R4 Reader Takes Centre Stage
The headline product on FlexiRay’s stand is the brand-new Super Compact R4, a multi-port UHF RFID reader built to pair with the company’s antenna systems. The reader has been designed around a small physical footprint without compromising on port count or performance, making it suited to space-constrained installations where traditional readers struggle to fit.
FlexiRay has not yet published full technical specifications for the R4, but the reader follows the company’s established design philosophy of modularity and compactness, allowing integrators to build tailored RFID systems without bulky infrastructure.
Ultra-Slim Antennas for Discreet Integration
Alongside the R4, FlexiRay is showcasing its ultra-slim UHF RFID antennas. These ultra-thin units feature modular length capabilities, meaning they can be scaled to suit different installation requirements. The antennas are engineered for discreet integration into furniture, walls, gates, and equipment while maintaining clearly defined read zones.
Managing Director Miroslav Jakšík highlighted the practical benefits of the antenna design, noting that a single FlexiRay antenna can replace two standard antennas and a costly mounting stand while delivering improved radiation patterns. For integrators and end users, that translates to fewer components, lower installation costs, and more predictable tag reads.
Modular RFID Gate System
The third product on display is FlexiRay’s modular RFID gate design. The portal system combines a slim form factor with controlled read zones and simplified installation, targeting high-traffic checkpoints where reliable identification is critical.
Broad Application Range
FlexiRay is positioning its hardware across a wide spread of use cases, including entrance control, narrow corridor tracking, conveyor belt monitoring, production line management, smart cabinets, shelving inventory, and doorway access points. The common thread across all applications is the need for precise, well-defined read zones in physically constrained spaces.
The company’s focus on integration-ready hardware reflects a growing demand in the RFID market for solutions that slot into existing infrastructure with minimal disruption. As UHF RFID adoption continues to expand in logistics and manufacturing, the ability to deploy antennas and readers without extensive structural modifications is becoming a key differentiator.
FlexiRay is exhibiting at LogiMAT 2026, which runs until March 26 at Messe Stuttgart.
