Aucxis is bringing its STAR smart deposit platform to Soccerex Europe 2026, where stadium operators will see how RFID can take the friction out of running reusable cup and tableware programmes. The trade show runs at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam on 12 and 13 May, and STAR will be one of the live demonstrations on the floor.

Reusable cups have moved from a sustainability talking point to a daily reality at stadiums across Europe. The challenge is no longer convincing fans to take part. It is keeping track of every cup, refunding deposits accurately, and giving operations teams the data they need to decide how many units to wash, where to stage them, and which suppliers are pulling their weight. That is the gap STAR is built to close.

Each cup or piece of tableware carries an RFID tag. STAR automatically registers items as they move through dispensing, return, and washing points, so the venue always knows what is in circulation, what has come back, and what has been lost. Because the registrations happen without staff scanning items one by one, queues at return stations stay short and the customer experience does not suffer.

The data side is where the platform really earns its keep. Operators get live dashboards covering deposit refunds, return rates, and item lifecycle, which feed both financial reconciliation and procurement decisions. If a particular tier or zone is generating high losses, that shows up immediately rather than at the end of the season.

For the wider venue industry, the timing is significant. New EU packaging rules are pushing single-use plastics out of large events, and reusable systems are now an operational requirement rather than a nice-to-have. Stadium operators looking at compliance often underestimate how much of the work is reconciliation rather than washing, and that is exactly the layer where RFID adds the most value.

Aucxis, headquartered in Stekene, Belgium, has been working in RFID-driven asset and logistics tracking for years and brings ISO 9001-certified processes to the platform. STAR sits alongside the company’s broader portfolio of RFID solutions for retail, logistics, and event environments.

Soccerex Europe is a strong shop window for the technology. The event draws decision-makers from clubs, federations, hospitality groups, and venue operators, all of whom face the same operational pressures around reuse, sustainability reporting, and fan experience. Visitors who want to see how a deposit-and-return loop holds up under real stadium conditions can find Aucxis on the show floor on 12 and 13 May at the Johan Cruijff Arena.
