Powercast

Powercast develops wireless power and RF energy harvesting technology from Pittsburgh, founded in 2003. Its relevance to RFID is that it removes the battery from devices that would otherwise need one: the company supplies battery free sensor tags and the readers that power them over the air, alongside an edge platform of hubs and nodes, wireless charging and development kits. It holds a portfolio of more than three hundred patents and reports over thirty million units shipped worldwide.
