Madhya Pradesh RFID tags on mineral transport vehicles

Every registered sand, stone and aggregate truck in Madhya Pradesh must carry a windscreen RF tag, bought by the owner through the e-Checkgate portal and linked to its e-Transit Pass, which unmanned e-check gates read alongside ANPR cameras. Untagged or tampered vehicles face loss of e-Khanij registration; the tag band is not published (UHF like FASTag is likely but unconfirmed).

Madhya Pradesh's order puts a windscreen RF tag on every registered sand, stone and aggregate truck in the state, read by unmanned e-check gates alongside automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras. Owners buy the tag through the e-Checkgate portal, and each tag is linked to the vehicle's e-Transit Pass, so a gate read checks the load's paperwork as well as the vehicle.

RFID News reported in October 2026 that gates are installed across 40 districts, so the reading infrastructure largely predates the tag mandate. The tag band has not been published; officials compare the scheme to FASTag, which suggests UHF, but that is unconfirmed.

The deadline is 6 November 2026, after which untagged or tampered vehicles face loss of e-Khanij registration. Early uptake was low: we reported that Gwalior district received 900 tags in the first phase and transporters bought seven in the first two days.
