What it means for RFID

South Korea's requirement puts an HF/NFC RFID anti-counterfeit tag on whisky and other controlled spirits. The cost and the work of applying the tags fall on producers and importers, which makes them the buyers for HF/NFC tag suppliers in this market.

The National Tax Service revised the labelling rules in Notice 2026-24 on 21 July 2026. The European Chamber of Commerce in Korea has asked for the requirement to be reviewed, so tag suppliers and spirits importers should watch for further changes to the notice.
